Whether you're looking to rent a space on VRBO or ready to sell it with a realtor, great exterior photos are your friend.A lot of the responsibility for capturing those images falls on your photographer. But, they can only work with the property you give them!To make sure the exterior of your home looks amazing and ready to market, do these 5 quick and easy things before your photoshoot:

  1. Remove Your Vehicles From the Driveway. No matter how nice your ride is, it doesn't belong in outdoor images. Some photographers won't even shoot properties with motorcycles, trucks, or bikes crowding the driveway. They'll reschedule!
  2. Mow Your Lawn. If your yard has grass, it should be freshly trimmed. An overgrown lawn suggests a space that isn't well cared for.
  3. Take Down Seasonal Decor. We love the look of an American flag flapping in the breeze. But, if you're flying one with a giant Easter Bunny on it, take it down for the photoshoot. Seasonal decor is too distracting and may put off viewers.
  4. Sweep Your Porches and Decks. A good photographer can help you out a little by minimizing the appearance of dust, dirt, and pollen. Still, to make sure they can show off your entire outdoor space, keep it all clean and appealing.
  5. Stage Your Outdoor Furniture. If you're working with a professional stager, make sure they take a look outside. If you're setting up on your own, make sure any patio or porch furniture is arranged in a realistic, inviting way. REALTOR Magazine has some good tips - with photos - for how to DIY-it.
